Urban Forest: Q1 Completed

At the beginning of 2026 we teamed up with the Growers of Austin Texas (G.O.A.T.) on a Wildlife Habitat Revitalization project with three objectives: enhance educational signage, steward the landscape through pruning and overgrowth removal, and install new infrastructure and flora.

We just finished the first, Q1 phase of the project, with amazing results you can see around Yellow Bike. All that thanks to the hard work of the amazing Growers of Austin Texas (aka G.O.A.T.). This project is made possible with support from the City of Austin’s Urban Forest Grant. Learn more at austintexas.gov/climate/programs/urban-forest-grant.

Since we just finished the Q1 period of the project, we are excited to share the results. During Q1: so far G.O.A.T. hosted 4 plant walks and organized 25 work days. They planted purple corn to improve soil health while actively engaging the community (look out for purple corn soon). In addition, they acquired native nut trees, including Chinquapin, as part of ongoing habitat revitalization. During this time G.O.A.T. initiated a collaboration with the Central Texas Mycological Society to serve as the official distribution hub for the Mushroom Block Giveaway (if you haven’t already, grab your mushroom block now!), managed by G.O.A.T. at Yellow Bike, amplifying the impact through shared resources and community reach. If you would like to get involved in this wonderful initiative, join G.O.A.T at Yellow Bike on Tuesdays & Sundays from 9 A.M. to 11 A.M (except for April 26*). To get in the know and up to date with G.O.A.T., join their Discord!
