Yellow Bike seeks dedicated and enthusiastic individuals to join our board of directors.

Yellow Bike is a volunteer-powered nonprofit that refurbishes donated bikes to provide affordable transportation and education for the community.

Last year we refurbished and got 1,819 bikes back on the streets of Austin, organized 10,670 volunteer hours across 808 volunteers and a staff of 10.

The board seeks individuals with diverse skills and experiences. Candidates with fundraising, communication, partnership, finance, human resources, project management, event planning or volunteer recruitment and retention experience are strongly encouraged to apply via this questionnaire. 

Because we strongly value the Austin community and local knowledge, we will prioritize candidates connected to communities of color, social service organizations and community centers. Ours is a governance and working board, s participation  involves addressing high level strategy and operational realities.

Commitments

• Ensure a professional and strategic direction for the organization. 
• Stabilize and build resources (both fiscal and human) for programs that fulfill  the Yellow Bike’s strategic planning effort.
• Foster cohesiveness between the staff and volunteers, in support of a happy, supported and enthusiastic community.

The nominating committee is accepting applications until Sunday June 30, 2026. We will hold follow-up interviews and select candidates in July. We thank you for your time and consideration.
