Get a Free Bike
At Yellow Bike Project, we believe everyone deserves access to safe, reliable transportation. Our Free Bike Program provides working bicycles at no cost to individuals who might not otherwise have access.
We identify need through referrals from nonprofit and community partners, including human service agencies, schools and colleges, religious institutions, and mentoring programs.
How It Works
To request a free bike please fill out the Get a Free Bike form.
The Get a Free Bike form opens at the beginning of each month.
The form will close once we’ve reached a manageable number of requests.
If the form is closed, please check back the following month.
Other Ways to Get a Bike
If the free bike request form is unavailable, there are other ways to get rolling:
Earn a Bike Program – Volunteer your time at Yellow Bike and earn a bike of your own.
As-Is Bikes – Purchase a low-cost, as-is bike and use our free Community Workshops to repair it.
Bulk Requests for Organizations
Need 5 or more bikes for your organization (within Austin city limits)? Please email liaison@austinyellowbike.org to set up a bulk request.

Frequently Asked Questions :
I heard you give bikes to people in need. How do I get one?
Please contact one of our social services partners to make a referral for you.
If I don’t have a caseworker can I still receive a free bike?
Yes, please send us an email describing your situation to info@austinyellowbike.org and we will choose the right program for you.
I want to help with the ‘get a free bike’ program, but I don’t know how.
You can help by building bikes for this and other donation programs. No prior bicycle repair experience is necessary. Simply show up at an Open, Volunteer, or WTF (Women/Trans/Femme) Workshop (if applicable) and talk with a shop host to get started. Check our Calendar for dates and availability.
