Get out there and HONK! all weekend!

March 12th, 2011

HONK!TX – Honk!TX is a grassroots, non-profit festival, bringing some of the world’s most talented, exciting, and radical street bands to play ABSOLUTELY FREE all weekend in streets, parks, and neighborhoods all over Austin. 20 community street bands are traveling from around the country to play free shows on Friday night, all day Saturday, and a parade on Sunday starting in downtown.  Just a hand-full of communities in the country are are lucky enough to boast such a happening, and Austin makes that short list this weekend.  If you’ve always liked marching bands, you’re going to love these high energy performances. If you’ve always thought marching bands were a bit wack, this weekend will set you straight.

HONK! TX is a community-supported family-friendly event put on free of charge by a volunteer staff and musicians playing for free.  Hundreds of people have come together to make this event possible through putting up musicians in their homes, organizing, fund-raising, cooking, and volunteering during the festival.

Be sure and catch Austin’s own Minor Mishap Marching Band, who played a huge part in organizing the festival, and will be playing three times over the weekend.
Check out the website to see the schedule, show locations, and band sneak peak videos.
