Over the last 20+ years Yellow Bike Project (YBP) has had a number of homes as the organization has grown an evolved culminating in the opening of our headquarters at 1216 Webberville Road in 2010.
Current Headquarters Webberville Shop — 2010 to current (map)

About: Our amazing 4,500 sqft shop hosts thousands of visitors a year, nearly nightly workshops, daytime retail hours, and classes for youth, adults, and group workshops. It sits on 3/4 an acre in central Austin on a 99 year lease from the City of Austin. YBP financed the $300k construction of the building and site through past savings, donations, and microloans from community members, which opened in 2010. Monroe Street Satellite Shop—2009 to 2010 (map)
Address: 411 W. Monroe
About: Space provided by the Austin Musicians’ Health Clinic. This satellite shop was housed in a large climate controlled warehouse shared with various other organizations, providing a temporary outpost between the closure of the Treasure City shop and the grand opening of our Webberville home.
Treasure City Shop—2008 to December 2009 (map)
Address: 1720 East 12th
About: Hosted by Treasure City Thrift at their former home on 12th and Leona, this space originally served as a small satellite location, but became YBP’s sole facility after the closure of the 51st Street shop. Our friends at Treasure City continue to supply us with one of our most critical tools—rags!
51st Street Shop—2001 to 2008 (map)

About: Serving as YBP’s headquarters from 2001 to 2008, the 51st Street shop was housed in a 3000 square foot warehouse owned by the City of Austin. It had eight work stands and an outdoor storage yard. It was this rent-free space provided by the City that allowed YBP to grow into the organization it is today.
Wheatsville Satellite Shop— through 2007 (map)

About: A small YBP satellite shop, housed in a storage shed behind Wheatsville Food Co-op.
Hargrave Shop—1998 to 2001 (map)
Address: 1182 Hargrave
About: This was the first YBP shop sponsored by the City of Austin, and served as the YBP main shop from 1998 to 2001.
Johanna St. Shop—1997 to 1998
Address: 419 W. Johanna
About: The very first official YBP location, serving for the first year of YBP’s illustrious life, in the backyard of some of our wonderful founders.

The Volunteer shops and the daytime Wednesday Community Workshops still require reservations. See links below for reserving time for those shops.

As a reminder,
During Community Workshops and WTF shops you can volunteer, work on your personal project, or your Earn-a-Bike checklists.
During volunteer-only shops you cannot work on personal projects nor your 2nd Earn-a-Bike checklist.
WTF hours are open to anyone who. identifies as female, transgender, femme, genderqueer, trans-masculine, trans-feminine, or feels that their socialization or treatment as a woman, transperson, and/or femme has impeded their participation in bicycle mechanics.
