Earn-a-Bike
Earn your very own bike while learning all the basics of bicycle repair. This is a skills-based program where you volunteer 24 hours while you complete all the tasks that constitute a full overhaul on a bike to be sold by YBP; then, you get to pick your own bike and fix it up for yourself for free – excepting any new parts you may need to buy to make it complete.
After completing 24 hours of volunteer time, you are also eligible to become a YBP collective member and even help keep the shop open more hours by starting as an apprentice shop coordinator; just come to a collective meeting at 7pm on the first Tuesday of the month and introduce yourself.
No bike repair experience is necessary, but patience and an ability to work independently with minimal instruction is highly recommended.
