Adult Classes

We offer these classes as often as our volunteer power allows:

  • Adult Mechanics Class: Our adult bicycle repair class is a four part series held once per week .  The class covers all basic bicycle maintenance and repairs including flat tires, brake set up and adjustments, overhaul of hubs/bottom brackets/head sets, setting up and adjusting derailleurs, truing wheels, and basic road safety.  We cap this class at 10 participants, which should feel like a private session compared to our 40-50 person open shops.  The cost of the 4 part class is $40, which will go to support the work of Yellow Bike.
  • Adult Commuting Class:  This class is in the development stage, but in general it aims to help folks learn to ride for more of their trips more of the time.  We envision including route selection tips, advice for how to deal with weather, cargo needs, etc., and teaching safe riding skills to confidently manage riding in traffic.

Stay tuned to our newsletter for the next class offering.  We’d like to offer these classes more often.  If you’d like to make a class happen, please consider getting involved, going through our apprentice training, and helping to teach a class.  Visit our apprenticing page for more info on how to get involved on this level.
