the 21st St. Coop Bike Project is working with YBP to get a community bike shop up and running in the West Campus Area. They have tools, stands, parts and a handful of coordinators ready to assist anybody with biking needs. The shop is currently closed for expansion and should open with expanded hours and services in mid-July. The project is located at 707 W. 21st St. in the backyard of the 21st St. Coop. Funds are still being raised to complete the construction of the shop and can be donated online.

MORE About us - The 21st St. Coop Bike Project began in 2008 as a resource for the members of several large student housing cooperatives operated under College Houses, Inc. With the immense cycling traffic around the UT campus, the project quickly outgrew its walls. A plan was proposed to tear down the small shed and reconstruct a building more suited to the needs of cyclists in the area. The new building will provide more floor space and loft storage for bike parts and frames.

Monetary donations are accepted during these times and can also be made through PayPal. Bikes and parts may be donated at anytime by dropping them off at the shop.

Modeled in the shadow of the YBP, the 21st St. Coop Bike Project is run by a collective council and functions under a set of bylaws. The YBP has assisted this project by donating bike parts and helping fund-raise. Once the new building is constructed and the project is more established, the 21st St. Bike Project will have potential to become a Yellow Bike Satellite Shop.

During open shop hours, cyclists can make use of two full sets of tools and a wide selection of used parts with the help of experienced mechanics. Monetary donations are accepted at the door of the shop and will soon be made available online. Bikes and parts may also be donated at anytime by dropping them off at the shop.

How you can help - The 21st Coop Bike Project is seeking donations, building materials (especially lumber), and volunteers for the construction of the new shop.
